Just watched the movie. Mrs. Harris goes to Paris. The character of Mrs Harris is not visible nowadays. Women like Mrs Harris, full of grace, and strength are rare to find. Such women have the strength of softness and the confidence of being tough which is the combination required. Nowadays the insistence is to become either tough losing the wholeness. The tenderness, softness and vulnerability which is required to feel the self. However, only asking to be the soft where everything becomes so mushy that one loses the self in it. I wish the balance of Mrs Harris comes back in today’s world. She is a widow of a defence person yet very graceful in experiencing the love and the gestures of men, who love her and her kindness.
The kindness of Mrs Harris is the strength of her character. This movie has made me realise that with several characteristics that are being talked about empowered women nowadays are missing or losing, the tenderness, love and softness, that they always had within her. The vulnerable, tender, loving and soft woman does not mean will always be gullible, but can be successful, tough confident and know her moves depending on the situation. This is something that I could see in Mrs Harris. Mrs. Harris is also capable of dreaming of something extraordinary, buying a gown for herself by attending a fashion show by Dior, it’s a huge dream to go from one place to another just to buy a dress which is stitched only for the exclusive people from the society. In this movie, femininity amuses masculinity by gaining respect for the depth that she carries instead of miming or mirroring the strength of masculinity.
